Orientation Highlights ISO-Aligned Workplace Practices to Strengthen Institutional Quality
In line with its commitment to quality assurance and international standards, Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) conducted an orientation on Quality Workplace Practices, focusing on the 7S/5S methodology. The session, which was held via Zoom, gathered members of the College’s ISO Core Team today, June 25, 2025.
The activity aimed to build institutional capacity in preparation for ISO 9001:2015 certification by enhancing understanding of quality workplace systems. It was organized by the Human Resource Management and Development Office and was designed specifically for core team members, who are expected to cascade the learning to their respective departments.
The orientation featured Dr. Arvin A. Andacao, Professor IV, DOrSU’s BPEd Program Head, a resource speaker from Davao Oriental State University, who shared best practices in implementing the 7S/5S approach. His session emphasized workplace organization, operational discipline, and sustainability as key components in achieving ISO-compliant systems.
Conducted under Special Order No. 04-104 ISO 9001:2015, the one-day orientation is part of NBSC’s broader strategic initiative to embed quality management principles across all institutional levels.
This learning engagement supports NBSC’s pursuit of ISO certification. It cultivates a culture of continuous improvement and shared accountability among staff, facilitated by the Quality Assurance Office headed by Dr. Daniel S. Lerongan and his team.
Relevant to the orientation’s objectives, Dr. Ermelina Bardilas, the head of the Learning Resource Center (LRC), shared her key takeaways.
“The 7S webinar this morning, for me, highlighted the importance of maintaining an organized and efficient workplace through 7S principles…These practices help eliminate unnecessary items, ensure that tools and materials are neatly arranged, and promote regular cleaning to maintain order.”, she expressed.
As the College progresses with its quality roadmap driven by the SUC President, Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, Ed.D, CESE, further capacity-building and internal audits are anticipated to strengthen systems, improve service delivery, and reinforce NBSC’s standing as a quality-focused public higher education institution in Northern Mindanao.
